What a way to start our Day
Our day starts with a morning assembly for grades K-8. Our principal and assistant principal normally conduct the 15 minute assembly. We start with the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the recitation of the two school creeds. The creeds are recited by both the lower elementary and middle school students. Special emphasis is placed on the moral focus virtue for the month enhanced through a performance by a designated class presentation. Students, staff and any parents in attendance, are informed of events and after-school activities along with recognition of any students or staff members celebrating birthdays or other achievements.
A Uniquely Blended Staff
At Walton, we are very proud of the 55-member staff of outstanding professionals who provide a structured, challenging, safe, supportive and orderly educational environment for the students we serve. Our staff is supervised by our principal and assistant principal. In addition, we have 29 teachers who are state certified, 18 support staff members, lunch aides and our incredible custodial staff who provide daily assistance to us here at Walton.
Preparing for the Future
We provide the academic structure needed to prepare our students for the ever-changing world around us. Starting off the new school year, our Family Literacy Night ranks as the #1 family gathering event at our school. Students get to bring their parents or an adult with them read for an hour. In recognition of their efforts, students are awarded coupons from various business establishments. A celebration is held each month for the class who has the most students in attendance at the Family Literacy event.
In the past, we have participated in “First Lego League” where students work together to build battery-operated Lego robots that perform assigned missions. Students learn why these missions are chosen and their importance to the real work being conducted by scientists around the world.
